Post subject: | Dungeons and Dragons Mini Repaint |
Having, over the years, amassed a huge amount of pre-painted collectible D&D minis, I thought I'd try and improve on the original (and shabby) paint scheme. A Cerebrilith. So, going for the easy option, I went for a pretty simple job. Note that that is the 'Master Paint' which is infinitely better than the actual, in your hand version. First of all, I primed the mini black, then painted the whole thing Khemri Brown. The spots were painted Calthan Brown, the brain Adeptus Battlegrey, the Bones, teeth, claws and spikes were done Dheneb Stone and the eyes were done with Deep Maroon. Then, the whole thing was washed with Devlan Mud. Still have to sort out the base... There are some pretty bad mould lines too which I should have sorted, but I reckon it ain't bad for maybe 25 minutes work. Which led me to stumble on the following thought... D&D minis fit perfectly into WotR movement trays... Where am I going with this? Wait and see... |

Nice work John! Except for the mould lines... I've never played the game but the minis certainly look cool! Keep the pics coming! |

At the risk of the dreaded Thread Necromancy card being played, I just want to say how impressive the new paint job is John. I have a number of these figures too and the paint job is pretty ordinary (as with 99% of all prepaints), so I might dig them out and threaten them with a paint brush. Inspiring, please show some more. |

I don't know what it is, but it definitely looks better after you painted it then it looked original. Great work! |

D & D has changed a bit since I last played it.... nice mini, even if it does look like some Tyranid hybrid. And what is Thread Necromancy? Ah - just noticed the date of the original post.... now I understand. |

Fantastic paintjob John. Funny actually as in my absence I've done a very similar thing with a D&D Shaman from an expansion pack. |
