I would start with the pointy ears led by Legolas, Haldir and Celeborn. Not sure how many points that comes out to |

I think the point total number is..... 546 (without throwing daggers included on the models. Adding them would be 576) Legolas 4 Ghaladrim w/ Bow 7 WeW w/ Bow Haldir w/ Armour, Bow 8 WeW w/ Elven blade Celeborn w/ Heavy Armour, Elven Blade 8 WeW w/ Wood Elf Spear 2 Bows over the limit, but that can be dealt with. Apparently Legolas can lead Lothlorien Elves yet Aragorn cannot lead Rohirrim... Hmm. |

Haha I've totally been having this sam problem. I have a pretty big collection but its primary been for fun and I was never really playing but I've been building up armies and playing and its been rough. You're best army to start with is definitely Wood elves. The straight wood elves are killer, Legolas is a great hero, I really like Thranduil but Haldir, Galadriel and the rest of the wood elf heroes are good. You also have a decent Gondor start and Isengard. A box of or two of warriors of Gondor, or lots on ebay plus your fountain court guard is a great start. Faramir is good and Boromir is also good all be it hard to fit in sometimes but his armored model with the banner is back on GW! A handful of the rangers are reasonable as well. Isengard you gotta grab the command set, Saruman and some crossbows and you're in business. Uruks with pikes are good too and you can get 'em on ebay cheap enough. |

Yeah, I have always had a weird collection. I always lacked heroes and had sold a bunch of models to my playgroup for battle companies but I slowly accrued a host of random stuff with my ebay-addiction (even if I am extremely frugal). I just recently got Sauron and some of the high value stuff like mounted scout boromir for a 60 buck lot on ebay. This sudden swelling of collection prompted this! The straight wood elves you say? Hmm, I do not think I have successfully played a D3-D4 army except for a shire shooting gallery once. My assumption is that it is relatively the same thing while having wood elf spears for keeping dice saturation up. And I do love Fountain Court for being men with D7. I am in the process of giving them shields and actually giving them hands (probably going to sculpt hands pulling swords from scabbards) I also forgot to list that I have 22 Morannon Orcs! I am tempted with making a Helminga force out of the new rohan models coming in, just go mostly foot and make a great shieldwall with which to advance upon my enemy while hurling spears. (If only I could support with them too, they are massive) |
