This will be my list for 1000 points of Dwarven Fury:

Balin, Son of Fundin w/ Durin's Axe
4 Dwarf Warrior w/ Shield
4 Khazad Guard
2 Vault Warden Teams

Gimli, Son of Gloin
4 Dwarf Warrior w/ Shield
4 Khazad Guard
2 Vault Warden Teams

Floi Stonehand
6 Dwarf Warriors w/ Bows

King's Champion & Heralds

Thorin Oakenshield w/ Oakenshield
6 Warriors of Erebor w/ Spear & Shield

Dwalin
6 Warriors of Erebor w/ Spear & Shield

This force is designed to be a block of troops which are all deployed together and with heroes placed in between, plus the King's Champion will be in and around with the Heralds there as the banner men to provide that added support.

How do people think its structured?
Do you think I have spent too many points on heroes?

Thanks

I am surprised not to see any of the really expensive dwarf heroes in the list?
Do note that the exact point cost is 1004 for this army, and unless your opponent is fine with it, you should aim to lower the points closer to 1000.

I would perhaps look into the possibility of removing 2 of the VW teams (do you really need 4 teams?), and replacing either Balin or Gimli with a real heavy hero like Durin or Dain etc.

What is your plan with the Warriors of Erebor? Are they spear-supporting? Do they actually need the Shields, or would the points be better spent bringing in a new unit/s?

Also, is it really efficient to only have those 6 bowmen? Why not just go all melee, or get even more ranged in your list?
6 units with ranged seems a bit wasted?

For exactly 1000 points you could do the following:

Durin, King of Khazad-dûm
4 Dwarf Warrior with Shield;
2 Vault Warden
4 Khazâd Guard

Shieldbearer
4 Dwarf Warrior with Shield;
2 Iron Guard
1 Vault Warden
4 Khazâd Guard

Flói Stonehand

King's Champion & Heralds

Thorin Oakenshield with The Oakenshield;
6 Warrior of Erebor with Spear; Shield;

Dwalin
6 Warrior of Erebor with Spear; Shield;

Not sure if this list is competitive, but it has Durin included (which should be taken if possible at this point level), as well as Iron Guard and even a Shieldbearer.
I am a big fan of the Shieldbearer, and he can be an excellent troop if used correct.

I don't see why you would not have the kings champion leading troops. I'd say give Gimli's or Balin's warband to the champion and use that heroes points to fill out Floi's warband.

Being a dwarf player myself this list just really showcases the weakness of our army, so few models, no way to make the enemy need to engage you, unless your depleted or out of postion

It has the heroes but Dwarven heroes are already deadly and hard to out down, really depends on what your group is playing, you could just be chasing shadows and being made a pin cushion for most the game, with 33 infantry at 1k, someone could bring 3 named wraiths on fell beasts and almost comfortably take 50 of any infantry they desired ( BG excluded)

Oh yeah I didnt realise it had just tipped over the limit, oops!!

I could leave out 2 Vault Warden Teams for some extra troops and possibly exchanging the bows out for more shield wielding warriors.

Yes, the Warriors of Erebor I would always take with shields to suppress normal bow fire (6 to a 6/4) and S4 attacks (5 to 6) because I find that once a line of spears and shields get broken, if the spearmen dont have shields, it swings the tide of the battle.

The purpose of having The King's Champion by himself is so that it can be deployed next to a block of spears and shields which will already have 2 heroes nearby then plus The King's Champion and the heralds as banner.

I am not sure how much people normally spend on heroes as a percentage of the force on average, so including the number of heroes I have means I have lots of might, some nice special rules and some strong characters. Rather than a couple of VERY strong characters and a few poxy ones.
