Hey guys,
So I'm participating in a tournament on the weekend, so I'm looking for help with my 500pt list. I have a fair bit at my disposal, so I'm actually a little crossed as to what to use. This is what I'm thinking of:

Uruk-Hai Captain w/ Heavy Armour + Shield
4 Uruk-Hai Warriors w/ shields
5 Uruk-Hai Warriors w/ pikes
3 Uruk-Hai Berserkers

Thrydan Wolfsbane (mounted)
5 Uruk-Hai Warriors w/ shields
4 Uruk-Hai Warriors w/ pikes
2 Uruk-Hai Berserkers
1 Uruk-Hai Banner Carrier

Uruk-Hai Drummer
1 Uruk-Hai Warrior

This leaves me with a handful of extra points. Any advice is much appreciated.

Thank you,
Alexander

Looks like a solid core to me, I always like having a Beserker or two to hide hehind the battle line and swing out round the sides to hit spearmen/pikemen and rob the enemy of supporting attacks. I just have a couple of questions, purely playing devil's advocate:

Is there any particular reason why you're using Thrydan Wolfsbane, mounted and pressumably running solo? To me, that just seems that it would make him a target for every archer on the field, and with D5 he'd probably be dead in a couple of turns. Fine in theory, but 95 points is a lot for a distraction kind of unit. Personally, I'd swap him for an Uruk Captain with H. Armour and Shield, then spend your remaining points on the 3rd warband (see below).

I'd also make sure that, in the second Warband, you have at least 2 attacks on the front rank at all times, to prevent a weak point from forming. So if you take a Captain, that's fine as the banner can sit behind him, but if not, I'd look at dropping a Beserker so you have a full 10 warriors with the banner parked just behind them. You can always move across a Beserker from Warband 1 in the first turnso you have 2 in each.

In Warband 3, aside from the Drummer, I'd spend all the points you have on Orcs. It ups yoor model count, and therefore Break point, and gives you a handful of units you can plonk at the end of each Uruk Warband to block off anyone trying to get to your pikes.

Hope that gives you some ideas, it certainly looks to be a good list.

Not to be annoying but to help as much as possible(I play Isengard often) can you list the heros and troops you have at your disposal.

I have a handful of comments already, but I will hold off for the time being.

Uruk Hai drummers are not Heroes. They can't lead warbands.

So I'm going to answer questions to clear things up:
Paradigm - This would be my first time using Wolfsbane. I wanted to use him because each successful roll to wound counts twice, and his Stand Fast is 12". Also, I only have Morannon orcs at the moment, no Isengard/Mordor Orcs yet, that'll be my next purchase. I don't have another generic Uruk-Hai Captain at my disposal at the moment, unless I can use another Hero as a stand-in (Ugluk).
Isilduhrr - Uruk-Hai Drummers are heroes, according to a sourcebook PDF update (If it isn't against the rules to link the PDF to here, I will, if someone could tell me if that's ok, didn't see it in the site guidelines).
Glory4Gondor - Where should I place Vrasku and and Uruk-Hai shaman?
LordoftheBrownRing - There was originally only the Uruk-Hai Drummer model that came in the Isengard Command box, with no rules or profile, but now there has been a PDF update, in which the profile is practically identical to that of a Mordor Orc Drummer. Also, here are the troops I have at my disposal:
Isengard:
Saruman (Mounted)
Ugluk, Uruk-Hai Captain
Grima Wormtongue
Thrydan Wolfsbane (foot & mounted)
Sharku, Orc Captain (Mounted on warg)
Vrasku, Uruk-Hai Captain
Mauhur, Uruk-Hai Captain
Uruk-Hai Captain
Uruk-Hai Shaman
Uruk-Hai Drummer
24 Uruk-Hai Scouts (8 just swords, 8 shields, 8 bows)
49 Uruk-Hai Warriors (20 shields, 20 pikes, 8 Crossbows, 1 Banner Carrier)
12 Berserkers
9 Feral Uruk-Hai
2 Trolls w/ spears
12 Warg Riders (4 bows, 4 shields, 4 throwing spears + shields)

Mordor:
The Dark Lord Sauron
Shagrat, War Leader of Cirith Ungol
Gorbag, Orc Captain
Mordor Orc Shaman
Morannon Orc Captain
13 Morannon Orcs (6 shields, 3 spears, 3 spears + shields, 1 banner carrier)

Any help is appreciated!

Fair enough then, if you want to see how he does then great. However, I stil think he should perhaps be on foot leading the Warband; he's slower, but less of an immediate 'kill me now, archers' target.

I could place him behind the defence 6 shield wall, so that he actually gets in combat? Or I could just swap him for a standard cheaper hero, so that I can increase my model and break count. Only bring 2 berserkers a warband, increase my number of Uruk-Hai warriors to defend flanks...until I get some isengard orcs that I can include in the list, since I can't use morannon orcs, and isengard orcs can alternate between mordor and isengard.

Sticking him behind the shieldwall would work, even if only for a couple of turns so the in-the-way rolls keep him safe until he can charge. Then throw him at a hero or monster to make best of his 2-for-1 Wound rule.

Well for starters, Id have your first three heroes in Isengard as follows:

Vrasku
Shaman(with armor)
Thrydan(since you wanna test him) on horse
7 crossbows
4 berserkers
10 warriors w shield
7 warriors w pike

Then you can mix them into warbands how you please

Id say:
Vrasku
7 x bows
Shaman
4 berserkers
4 warriors with shield
1 warrior pike
Thrydan
6 warriors shield
6 warriors pike

Keep a tight formation with pike support and fury from the Shaman, and in the mean time, pick off certain parts of their army with x bows.

Use Thrydan and a massive hammer with the berserkers and pike support to cut through the enemy. Make Vrasku the leader.

LOTBR's list looks good, but if you want to use Thrydan an the Berserkers as the hammer, then I'd switch the warband leaders, plus that would give the Shaman access to more figures to Fury-ise.

Yes, I'll definitely want to use that list either at the tournament or in the near future.

Its really simple, and this is 500 points on the dot:

Vrasku(leader)-
10 Uruks with X bows

Shaman with armor-
4 berserkers
4 uruks with shield
4 uruks with pike

Sharku on Warg with Shield-
6 warg riders

You have speed and cav with Sharkus warband, you have a powerful group of Uruks and support with the Shamans, and you have range and a great hero with Vrasku.

Again, pick them off with the x bows, use the cavalry to flank, take out soft targets, like their archers, and use the main block to stay alive with fury and cut through their troops. Always channel your fury. If you dont know what I mean, ask.

At the end of the game keep your uruks near the Shaman if hes alive for courage tests.

Any more questions feel free.

I would suggest to be dirty cheap and add an orc shaman on warg just to help the warg riders turning them nastier as they are his shock trops = they have to make the charge and some foes cause terror. And funlly the only shock troop he got with the lowest courage out there :P

Thats a good idea, but the list is already slightly low on numbers. Dont you think that would hinder their performance vastly?

I guess I should chime in on my army list, eh? :P I'm working on a list with more spread out bows. Putting them all in one warband seems to limit my strategic options. I'll post a higher model count list that I'm working on soon. Would I have to convert a model into a shaman on a warg?
