Hi! I'm working on a list for a 500 point tournament in Norway in November (Mini-Arcon). I've made a lot of different lists, but this is my "final" draft. It's based mostly on what I have painted up already, or what I am able to finish up in time for the tournament.

Any thoughts?

What do you think? Originally I made the list with rangers instead of Citadel Guards, but there's no chance I'm able to finish the rangers in time. I also want to include Faramir, but I think the points saved from using Madril/Damrod/Beregond/Captain instead of him is better.

I got some feedback about having to include magic users. I have little experience with them in game, and I like to have a theme going. Gandalf the White would be the obvious choice, but I find him very expensive for this army (and 500 points).

I also considered using Ithilien Guard and Rangers (and Faramir), but in the meta here I don't consider woodland creature to be that big of an advantage to base a Minas Tirith army on. And again I'm not able to finish the rangers in time.

I like it; you've made the most of Minas Tirith's cheap heroes and seem to have a nice mix of basic infantry, Fight 4 elites and some knights for killing power, all while having a solid amount of models. My advice would be to have mounted Faramir with heavy armour, lance and shield lead the Knights, as I find him to be much better than a mounted captain + a few points, and try to take as many Fountain Court Guard as you can. But it's a pretty good list, you'll do well if you use it properly. As for a magic user, I wouldn't include one; magic becomes really important 600 points plus for Good, and any wizard you took would eat into your numbers and can't lead a warband, which means that your numbers, one of the big strengths of the list, will suffer. Definitely don't take Gandalf the White, he's far too expensive for a 500 list; almost half of your points will have been spent on a one attack model :/

Is there a particular reason for not filling out your war bands all the way? If not You might consider dropping Beregond, redeploying his troops and using his points to upgrade the Capt to Faramir. I also wonder if Madril is worth taking with this army. Yes he has a bow and three might but you might do better sending Cirion, if you have him, to lead your ground troops. Its true that one isn't really "better" than the other and if you know you will be bring in reinforcements Madril is good to have. Cirion is a bit more survivable though, can help tie down monsters and can shield too. I would personally take him over Madril but thats just me.

I would definitely agree with Wan Shi Tong about removing the captain and Damrod (Beregond is well worth the extra points imho) for Faramir w/ horse, heavy armour, lance and shield. this would leave you with the option of replacing your current shield wall with guards of the fountain court, or adding more knights depending on how many strength 4 armies you are expecting at the tournament. As for Cirion vs. Madril, always look through the tournament scenarios if you can, and evaluate how useful Madril would be compared to Cirion.

Thanks for the input. I'm not sure why I'd fill up the warbands (apart from a scenario where they might be split up). Getting a fourth hero, and the might I thought would be better.

Madril vs. Cirion. I dont know.. I think I'll have more use of Madrils special rule than Cirions, but the Cirion model will look better and less out of place. And that gotta count for sometthing!

I've addded the four Fountain Guard models I have as well. I just gotta cast some shields, bows and spears and it all will be WYSIWYG!

I can also change all the WoMT to just swords, remove one and add a fifth Knight instead, and go down to 496 points. (I can also change Faramirs horse to a heavy armour one, and skip the shield on the banner bearer and get 500 points blank with that option).

I might regret it at Mini Arcon

I played the army at Mini-Arcon, I had a lot of fun with it. Just need to figure out how to make it to a 600 points army now. Adding Saruman the White on horse perhaps. Just need to find out what to drop then..
