Hey, i just wanted to know if it would make up a decent army if i took an ent with my 600 point woodelevn army (i know i would need tree-beard to do so but who gives a ....? ) and does a about 500 pts woodelven army also work without banner? I got xpensive heros + elites and elven are low on numbers anyway as we all know...

If you want the army competetive, then no. Woodelves need numbers to make maximum use of bowfire and to with combat as they suffer badly with D3. Best bet is Legolas and 50 wood elves.

No thats a matter of personal preference. Though Elves are the arguably the best force to use a banner with since they have fight value of 5 and there was a thread somewhere that showed that the higher the F the better the pay off from a banner.

I'd say a banner is best for Dwarves as they have an above average Fight and they don't have spears.

Anyways, back on topic: I suggest you follow hithero's advice.

But that's very competitive and dosen't look much fun to play. I personally am not into uber-competitive armies but I prefer fairly competitve and still fun to use armies. Sentinels are good but very expensive. They're good at that kind of points' level as they can easily box in trolls or even drag them out of the way.

Id definatly get at least 1 sentinal, there so good against trolls and the like, and they make it MUCH for fun to play. Im really competitive so i often go for the uber competitive lists (unless its really cheesy), but I still highly recommend sentinals.
-fun to use and they open up a variety of tactics to use ect...

similar to what spuds is saying

a quick 500pt list for the woodies would be

Legolas + cloak 100
15 Woodelf + throwing dagger
15 Woodelf + spear
7 Woodelf + bow
8 Woodelf + bow + spear

46 models,
18 shots
3 might.

You will pretty much destroy all that comes within in 24" of you (so long as the SL isn't present...then you can play the Legolas vs SL mini-game)
