I was thinking that maybe we should organize an event in North America that would take place in three/four years time. Somewhere there is a majority of participants, and whomever's home city is chosen he/they can look to see if a hotel will give discounts for a group staying for a week. Or there can be a Euro event, but I'll definitely need four years to save up for that. Who's interested in this idea? It's a long shot. |

I'd be interested wherever it was held - though the United States or Canada would be my first choices as 1) I love and miss Canada and 2) i have never been to the U.S.. Would have to be 3-4 years away tho to save up definately interested tho... sounds great!!!! |

I would definitely be interested, however it might be hard for me to commit as my plan is to join the RCMP in a little over a year so I have absolutely no clue where I will be, other than not where I am now. |

Cool RCMP! I too am suppose to be moving, though I made that claim two years ago. It's either join my brother in Edmonton or join the Navy. |

I'd be up for such an event. Particular part of the US that works best for anyone? |

^ Viggo Mortensen clearly doesn't think so... @mordin34, I prefer the eastern seaboard for obvious reasons, unless I'm moving... |

Truth is I don't watch professional sports anymore, its boring on the television. Would rather go play myself. Eastern seaboard, hmmm might be a bit far but as I said I'll wait before I fully commit. |

Like I've said elsewhere, DC is probs one of the best place to host this (least ways just outside of it) because 1. It's in America, 2. It's on the Eastern Seaboard, 3. It's nearish to where I live (and no, Angband is not near DC ) |

Draugluin wrote: It's nearish to where I live (and no, Angband is not near DC ) Well that's contradicting yourself considering what you have put as your location! Well that's 1 point for Washington D.C. Though it would be nice for residents of the area to participate and seek info on renting a hall or finding a gaming club space, and finding appropriate hotels that offers group discounts. Any other suggestions? Of course I would like Montreal, but sadly I'm the only one here that's dedicated to the Lotr hobby in Montreal while the rest rather play WH40K, WHFB, Warmachine/Hordes. I know that out west in Alberta there seems to be plenty of O-R members that come from that part of Canada. |

I suggest Dubrovnik - the old town is very much the inspiration for the White City. And the food is great (very important). Nice climate. |

Croatia? That would be something different. I guess we don't have to stick to just North American areas, maybe most members would rather prefer holding an event in Europe. Or how about New Zealand for exotic locations? Too bad we can't hold an event right now so that we can visit the film sets of the Hobbit. I've read somewhere that in the location where they're filming Hobbiton, they're leaving the Hobbit holes up for a limited amount of time for people to visit. |

The reason why it should stay North America's Eastern Seaboard is that it's pretty centralized, it's the same distance from London as it is from San Francisco. My location is Angband cause I don't feel like letting people know where I live! Though I will say that North Carolina has 2 yearly gaming conventions that almost always have LotR games. They get group rates on the hotel that the convention is at and it's 3 days of gaming. |

Good to know that. So far there's a handful of us interested in this idea, would like it to be over a dozen. I was just web surfing through Dubrovnik, it looks really neat but at the sametime pricey. I would be down to go to Washington if anybody else agrees. Would also like to hear more suggestions. |

The gaming convention in NC is in Raleigh, which I guarentee is easier to drive around than DC, though it will most likely be easier to get tickets to DC and actually find stuff to do besides just game. If you go on a weekday, the crowds won't be as bad and you can see most everything to see in the Capital. The War memorials are especially great to see. |

Chicago is a nice central location, there is a cheap but devent hotel by the Chicago Battle Bunker, lots of good food in the area . . . and its in my backyard so after hours we could move the party for late night session. Of course this is also exceedingly convienient for me. |

I looked into Brent S' Chicago event Bilbo's Birthday Bash, seems very interesting and with many players. If he holds another one I just might make the trek out to there if my circumstances are right. |
