Post subject:  Hi all

Hi everyone, my name is Ewan and I live in Scotland.

I've been loitering in the shadows like Gollum on the board for the past few weeks and thought the content was brilliant. All of the painting/sculpting that I have seen so far is great with some being out of this world.

I'm a big fan of most fantasy stuff but The Lord of the Rings has always held a special place in my geek heart. I first started being interested in painting miniatures in about 2002 when the Battle Games in Middle-earth magazine first started. Due to a mixture of circumstances I fell away from it after a few months (angry that I cant find any of the miniatures I painted back then) but always wanted to get back into it.

Having dropped enough hints my wife bought me a few miniature sets and paints for my birthday to get me started again (just about to start on the Mordor Orcs, think I'll leave the Balrog for a few years...). Hopefully I can get involved in a few of the monthly competitions once i get a bit better and possibly set up a WIP thread.

I've never played a single game of the SBG and just like to collect and paint the miniatures (no preference over any factions, just whatever looks fun).

Look forward to talking to you all.

Welcome to the site Ewan. Battle Games in Middle-earth is what got me started in all this too. It took me a couple of years to find this site but I've been here ever since! I started out as a collector too, but started playing the game with a couple of friends eventually. Nowaday's I'm busy sculpting or converting (and occassionally painting) for anyone who's willing to pay.

See you around the boards!

Welcome, I see a couple of the more respectable lads have already made your acquaintance. I'm Dayne and I'm a little less helpful and knowledgeable, though I've been painting since Fellowship of The Ring and playing since Return of the King. I've played a wee bit of War of The Ring but I'm closer to the SBG.

My time is mostly occupied with Dwarves and Goblins these days, but I have a large force from every faction. The numbers in my signature reflect how many points I have painted and based from each of those armies.

Well, certainly helpful and long-serving! Why aren't you a Ringwraith yet?! :P

Welcome! A few guys up in Scotland, and the odd tournament. Sterling I think? Might be fun to check it out. The gaming side of things is almost as cool as the painting/modelling side ;).

Hi mertaal. I seen a group in Stirling on the find an opponent page. It looks good but to be honest I don't really have the time to do both the painting and learn the game (although I would love to). Hopefully one day.

You are most welcome here and I'm sure we can help you progress in whatever area of the game you choose.

Thanks Gandlaf, hoping to get started on the painting over the next few days so will probably need some help soon!
