This may be the wrong place to post this, but I wasn't really sure where it fitted in.

Looking through my old modelling stuff, I came across my old Forgeworld Fire Dragon still in it's box (was always too scared to paint him up!). For those that don't know what it is, here is a pic.

For more pics, just try googling it. He's a big beasty, make no mistake!

To me, it always looked like how I imaged Smaug to be, and intended to paint him up as such.

My conundrum is this, the kit is now out of production, so would be hard to find again. I don't know if I could get the nerve to paint him, given that I haven't painted for a while, and was too scared even at my best. The other option would therefore be to sell him, and concentrate on my other smaller models.

I don't want to put a poll on this or anything like that, but just wanted peoples thoughts about it all really. I know it's not the usual miniature problem, but I would value people's input.

I would keep him for the future when You feel confident enough to do a painting job to do him justice.

If you sell it, you'll inevitably regret it an a year or two.

That means that your only other option is to paint it at some point. It won't paint itself so at some point you'll have to face the job - I'd say wait until you really WANT to paint it and then get stuck in, you may well find that you surprise yourself, I'm sure you'll do a great job.

Don't sell it! :-)

If you keep him, you do also have a motivation for improving your painting skills.

Keep it secret, keep it safe, paint it when the time is right. :)

As usual, the great Khannish warlords agree with the Dr.'s prognosis. It's a super cool model, one anyone would love to have. May it one day be a centerpiece for your army.
