So, I'm looking to repainting my WoMT since they were my first models and their paint job is pretty poor. What's the best way to go about doing that? Trying to strip their paint, or put a basecoat over the old paint job? I'm not TOO worried about keeping vast amounts of detail because honestly I'm not that detailed of a painter when it comes to my WoMT. Thanks!

I'd recommend stripping the model otherwise it'll look terrible in all likelihood.

I use acetone free nail polish remover - leave the model to soak overnight then scrub it with a toothbrush. Works great on metals, never stripped a plastic tho.

I have used Dettol to strip both plastic and metal to great effect. Use the brown (normal) variety and you can water it down slightly. Leave overnight and then just remove the paint with an old toothbrush. Don't put pure water on the mini if there is any paint left though! It makes a sticky mess. Water with plenty of washing up liquid in it can be used to wash the Dettol off. Mini is good as new!

I use Simple Green to strip paint from both plastic and metal minis - works really well!

Pretty much same procedure as Erurainon's Dettol idea - submerge the minis overnight in some diluted Simple Green. A lot of the paint will flake off, but you can use an old toothbrush to scrub off what's left (if there are deep recesses in the model, which is uncommon in plastics, then sometimes you might need to get in there with a craft knife and gently scrape the old paint out)

Well, that's my 2 cents.

I use dettol, works well on plastic. Strip it down, wash it off, undercoat and off you go.

On a side note, does no-one do searches for things anymore? Looks like I will be making that guide over summer after all. Do a search on this site for dettol and simple green and you will come up with some other threads with more info.
