Thought I would start a thread where members can share 'real scenery' from places where they live or travel too. Today, I drove up to a place called 'Hepburn', about 3 miles from 'Holy Island' which is situated near Berwick Upon-Tweed, Northumberland. Takes me about 45 minutes to an hour to get there depending on traffic. Arriving, 5 minutes from destination, last picture will see me stood atop that hill. Start of journey, following the trail... Up into the forest... A man made tent/shelter... Taking a break and enjoying the scenery... A long way down... Atop the first peak... The last assault, first picture was taken on the road (not visible) in the middle of this pic... Destination achieved... |

England has some real beautiful places...I really must visit sometime soon! Those are some great shots Brian, and great idea for a thread topic. I'll have to see what I can dig out and post here. |

Brian, did I ever say that you look a bit like Hannibal Lecter? right, so here's some pics of my Holiday in Afrika a while back .... How did that elephant get there? So there were taken in Liwonde National Park in Malawi. Beautiful park, beautiful country and very friendly people. |

Great idea Brian! Some nice WIP shots (Walking In Progess) Those pics remind me of Ithilien in the film. I'll see what I can dig out. |

Managed to scrounge up some pictures from a holiday in 2006 in good old Weymouth. Unfortunately I managed to get myself in hospital on the second day and stop myself from being allowed to get my head wet but it was a good enough holiday nonetheless. And some pictures of Durdle Door |

Well, here's a few shots from my holiday to Mordor... errr Lanzarote. Who lives in a pond like this, Precious? Alive without breath, As cold as death; Never thirsty, ever drinking, All in mail never clinking. The taming of Smaug Broodling of Dol Guldur (not crabs, honest) Place an 'X' on the spot you think the Fellowship will exit Moria. In the land of Mordor where the shadows lie. We're going to see her. Dead Marshes, 5 miles. Beware the Watchers of Karna. The Corsairs are late. Again... Taking some time out with the A-Z. Unintentional gesture towards father-in-law... |

This is a picture of a waterfall in Letchworth State Park in New York State. I have more pictures locked away on my laptop and will try to upload them as soon as I can get it up and running again. |

Lovely rock formation. Could be a sleeping dragon. Pembrokeshire coast. It was pretty windy. Archer on Whitesands bay, last December. Should this be 'Dol' Amroth? |

I saw this thread and thought I should add some of my pictures. A week or so ago I spent a week up in Scotland for my Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award. Basically the expedition part of it comprises of spending 4 days out walking and camping in the Wilderness and the Scottish Highlands is definitely wild! So anyway, here are some of the pictures. There are quite a lot so rather than uploading them onto One Ring I've compiled them together on a web page. Oh and I'm the one, second from the left in the group photo in the car park. Enjoy! Cow muck aye! The kind of stuff you used to deliberately jump in with your wellies. I haven't done that in so long, too long... Everyone is posting their pics so I thought I'd join the crew. These are from a day out in the Lake District, Buttermere to be exact. The Mountain we were climbing is called Haystacks however Buttermere Lake was our starting point. The beginnings of a new adventure <a href="http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/?action=view¤t=P1040345.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/P1040345.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <a href="http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/?action=view¤t=P1040354.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/P1040354.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> There were some gorgeous trees dotted around the path, and off towards the lakeshore. However I wasn't sure if this tree would withstand the might of my powerful arms <a href="http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/?action=view¤t=P1040362.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/P1040362.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> Path deviating from the main track, reminded me of the Parth Galen scene <a href="http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/?action=view¤t=P1040372.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/P1040372.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> The Door into Khazad Dum <a href="http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/?action=view¤t=P1040373.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/P1040373.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <a href="http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/?action=view¤t=P1040378.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/P1040378.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> At this stage my mum went trigger happy because of some lame hen <a href="http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/?action=view¤t=P1040384.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/P1040384.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <a href="http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/?action=view¤t=P1040385.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/P1040385.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> You don't wan't to know how many hen pics we have on our hard drive now lol, too many! Anyway, looing back at where we have just walked from <a href="http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/?action=view¤t=P1040401.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/P1040401.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> And looking forward at our route up the mountain <a href="http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/?action=view¤t=P1040402.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/P1040402.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> At the first major 'summit'/ledge (rather large ledge really) <a href="http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/?action=view¤t=P1040412.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/P1040412.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <a href="http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/?action=view¤t=P1040414.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/P1040414.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> We have come to the 'Endless Stairs' of Cirith Haystacks, just had to take a pic of this <a href="http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/?action=view¤t=P1040417.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/P1040417.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> Buttermere Lake below <a href="http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/?action=view¤t=P1040420.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/P1040420.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> The Forbidden Pool <a href="http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/?action=view¤t=P1040424.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/P1040424.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> Yay! Now I know what Sam must have felt like after climbing Mount Doom <a href="http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/?action=view¤t=P1040434.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/P1040434.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> The journey down was shorter in distance and easier to traverse, thank goodness for that! <a href="http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/?action=view¤t=P1040437.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/P1040437.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <a href="http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/?action=view¤t=P1040439.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/P1040439.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <a href="http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/?action=view¤t=P1040446.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/P1040446.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> This is one of my favourite photos, reminds of what Lothlorien or perhaps the purer areas of Mirkwood 'wood' look like. <a href="http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/?action=view¤t=P1040448.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z261/lorderkenbrand/P1040448.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> Only a small trek over a bridge and past about 500 yards (I play golf ) of low-lying grasslands and we were there, back at our car. It took about 6 hours but we had lunch up there and a few breaks. It's an easy climb, with beautiful views and lots of fun to be had. I would recommend climbing it on a warm summers day. Hope those pics of 'Real Scenery' are of some kind of inspiration to you all. |
