hey guys. just wanted to hear what you think the extended scenes are going to include. I am hoping for more bear action and i'm wondering what happens to saruman after he says he'll chase after sauron. they probably will start to reveal how he got corrupted. I'd also like to see how Dain would resolve the issue with the payment. that was never addressed in the movie - "we're all fighting for gold! oh bugger, orcs are here! - now we're fighting to survive! ... hooray we won, now was there something else we forgot???" here's some things i am sure we will see in the extended version: thorin, fili and kili's burial - can't miss that dain's coronation - will happen at the same time alfrid's demise - i don't care about him but obviously they can't just let him walk away with all that gold without some nasty karma happening to him. an extended battle. well hopefully. one thing i am really curious about that no one has noticed yet I think, is that Bifur's Axe-head in his head is GONE! you can see it when bilbo says his farewell to the surviving members of the company. i want to see how it happens. he was one of the dwarves that intrigued me but unfortunately he never had any real lines. alfrid was apparently a more important character. any thoughts? |

Well, Bofur has a special rule called "I need that!" that let's him take the axe from Bifur, so I assume that there was something filmed that required them to cut something or kill something. Seeing as Dol Guldur got REALLY changed in DOS EE, I could totally seeing them changing the frankly rushed ending to include Thorin's burial and Dain and Bard's coronations. |

Don't forget all the Dwarf Cavalry footage that wasn't used in the cinema release. And just for a laugh I would like to see if Lobelia really does take Bilbo's spoons after he put them down at the end |

Does Bard really become King? I don't think he wants to be one. regardless, the men of Lake town never had a king before. I know it's in the book, but considering how much liberty Jackson has taken with the movies, (to make it "better") I doubt he will be crowned. maybe just named as the new Master, maybe. Also, I wonder if Bifur can now speak normally instead of just Khuzdul |

I think that the people would convince him eventually to take up the crown. |

I expect: Extended ending with the relevant coronations/burials (hopefully not as long as RotK though!) Extended battle scenes; dwarf cavalry, ballistae Chariot chase from the trailer What I hope for: More Beorn Extended Dol Guldur scenes Alfrid's death (hinted at in Chronicles) |

I want to see Alfrid escape to Rohan and buy his way up to being the king's councilor. Then somebody calls him Wormtongue or something. It won't happen, but it would be pretty funny for him to turn out to be Grima's father. |

Hmm. I am reminded of when gimli is sitting on a dead uruk with his axe in its head. "HE'S TWITCHING BECAUSE HE'S GOT MY AXE EMBEDDED IN HIS NERVOUS SYSTEM! " And here comes bifur. Maybe an uruk axed him and then sat on him. (sorry bit random there) |

what I would like to see; Azog getting sword arm and armour. Balin driving the cart with Thorin, Kili, Fili and Dwalin and then after the wargs come, they have to improvise and send the 4 up on the goats back and balin leads the Wargs away. The elf volley scene - if it will not fit back in where it belongs then perhaps the elves could rally after Azog is defeated when remains of the second force from Gundabad arries they get taken out in seconds from arrow fire. Beorn doing anything more than what he has. Dain giving the Elf King his Jewels in trade for the Kings Jewel and having some rude words. They should not be parting in friendship, just Nuetral. I can see why it would not fit the mood to have it in the theater version. I doubt the coronation will happen since Thorin is not even buried yet. I would be surprised if that makes the film at all. Would like to see wargs at the Battle anywhere. I know they are scary fast, but to include troll that are not in the book at all but to leave out wolves and Wargs completely when they are very much mentioned in the story doesn't make sense. Who am I kidding, just put more Tauriel and Legolas scenes instead. Since PJ doesn't have to work on anything else for Theaters, he should have a bit more time and can really look at all the chaos he made and try to work it out in this last version. |

I like all these things that I am hearing, but what we can really expect to see is probably a lot of stuff from the trailer that was left out. So the volley and the cart are most definites. Those scenes have already been shot and worked in someway. It's usually easier for them to just go back and put them back where they belonged from the beginning. It would be nice to see wargs/wolves or some sort! They were ONE of the five armies that made up the battle in the book. How do you get rid of them and replace them with an army from Gundabad that gets completely destroyed by Beorn and the Eagles without even seeing any combat? SCRIPT ERROR! Yes, I get that the eagles and Beorn are powerful, but come on. An entire army? Unrealistic. |

in the Chronicles, there are some designs of Armored Wargs. and the trailer did seem to show Balin on a chariot being chased by Wargs. so yeah, hopefully we see those, and the equivalent miniatures! |

The Battle of the Five Armies Edited and Extended Edition (EEE) The whole film is deleted and replaced with better stuff. Lol, jokes. In all realism however, we do not think PJ will replace anything, or correct his mistakes (its unrealistic, and besides, he just wouldn't) but ideally things will be added that at least improve the film. The film's faults will remain, but at least they will be balanced by more good things. We are looking for further character development (not Legolas and Alfrid), deepening and finishing off the plot, etc. and explanations all those unexplained things that the cinema audience was just expected to swallow. Hopefully, the EE of the BotFA will be as good as the DoS EE. PJ did say something about more violence in the EE. A lot of stuff was edited out because it was not "child" friendly. Gruesome deaths, severed heads, etc. We would love to see more violence and grittiness like in the Lotr. Elladan & Elrohir |
