Just want to see what people think so, as the title, what is your favorite part of a miniature to paint? (cloak/cloth, armour, skin, etc...)

The Face. I always go to town when I paint faces - typically, a brown basecoat like Dark Flesh, then a layer of dwarf flesh followed by a devlan mud wash then a dwarf flesh + elf flesh highlight. Then I paint the eyes - typically just a tiny white slit, but sometimes the black pupil also if the eyes are large enough. And sometimes, I even paint eyebrows.

Yeach! I really dislike painting faces. I am getting better at them, and thus am enjoying them more, but still......
For me it has to be cloaks, you can just keep highlighting them and highlighting them until they look awesome. 8)

I enjoy the cloaks the best too, so many raised areas and shaded areas. Easy to get a decent effect on

It depends what kind of miniature, in LotR I like to paint clothes.
For my 40k miniatures I like to paint flesh (imperial guard), much more details.

Personally, I like painting the last bit, 'cause then my model is done. :)

The gratifying feeling when I finished a batch of them is great!

It'd have to be faces for me too. I find it interesting picking out and adding different details to the faces of miniatures.

I'm with you guys on that one, as I am sure most would be.

I hate doing faces, mostly because I haven't got the formula down right yet, or something is not perfect enough. The time it takes me to do those small details such as eyes, teeth, lips, eyebrows.

Boring bit to paint are boots.

Mostly I like helmets, detailed scupts of chest plate armour & greaves, and I like doing small freehand detail work on cloaks and clothing.

Cloth for me. Easy to get a very gratifying effect, even for a not quite pro-painter like me.

I like painting the faces, but my favorite part (some good, but mostly for evil) is painting free-hand banners. When you get to put your own interpretations and ideas on to the battlefield, it's so satisfying.

I don't know about favorite to paint cause I haven't painted it yet but I've fallen in love with the Rivendell Elrond. I will be putting special amount of time and work into him. I also think I got an exceptionally clean and crisp sculpt.

I like painting the base rims at the end. Brings an army together nicely.

I like putting the first bit of paint on top of the base coat - that way you know you're going to finish it up because you've made the first step.
