Right, as some might have noticed, the camera on my mobile phone, which is the only camera I've got at the moment, sucks. It's 2MP, the photo taken with my friend's camera, got 3.2MP.

I'd very much like to share my progress, so I'm going to buy a camera - Not a too expensive one, but is there anything else I need to think of when buying a camera? The Pixel stuff is the quality thingy I suppose?

Thank you.

Welcome to the One-Ring, Nurin.

Pixel count is one aspect of quality; it tells you the effective resolution of the camera. However there are other factors that you need to take into account: budget (how much can you spend on the camera, flash memory cards and a spare battery (assuming it uses a rechargeable); lens - what range of focal lengths can it handle; macro ability - how close to your subject will it allow you to take images and at what focal length - this determines the amount of space the subject will occupy in the final image and is sometimes expressed in magnification factors.

A good site for camera reviews and jargon busting is - dpreview

I am not familiar with camera stores in Sweden, so you will have to do price hunting there for yourself. I use an 8.2 mp Canon EOS20D for my pics here - I have to resize the images down drastically to keep within our file size limits, so as a guess, I reckon 6 mp would be a decent starting point - especially if you are going to use the camera for other purposes, not just posting pics of minis. Good luck!

Stop playing with the sambuca then, I doubt it's healthy with the bangs and recoils of those things!

You are unfamiliar, I see, with Brian's messing-around-with-site-programming....

It's not called that, it's a (see picture below.)

YOU can... :-D

Dorth used to spam chatboxes with that, so one day DurinsBane changed the site programming so that it would replace it with that. Even 'B a z' does it (without the spaces).

Actually, your sarcasm would be a little funnier if you kept your timeline straight. You've only been a member for a week, so how could Dorth's welcome be 'weeks late?' :?[/b]

week-late* an s here or there.. Don't care too much about details, it just makes things confusive...

Though, I suppose this forum is quite the wrong place to tell people to avoid details, 'cause it's the details which makes it good. *nods*

My, we sure did drift off-topic there...

I can't possibly reccommend a camera, having never bought one. Sorry. Surely though, somebody else can. Dorth kind of has. (And my phone is only 1.3 MegaPixels. You won.)

Topics are made to go off... Or was it rules made to be broken. *shrugs* Anyhow, to slide back to the topic - I saw a camera for 1499 SEK (10 SEK is something around an euro.. ish.. it changes.)

10MP, should be good enough to get some pictures up here atleast. Now, to persuade my father to give me the money *rubbs hands*

IF I get it until tomorrow, expect the following to be up in my gallery: The Dwarven Queen (though, I still need an answer - Do they, or do they not, have beards? Dwarf women that is.) - The progress of my Khazad Guards (once I've ran down the GW store and bought myself the right paint!) and... and... well, that's just about it for now..

]B /-\ Z [()] [()] ]K /-\!!

Tihi, No one can stop me from writing sambuca! ... wait.. doh!

oh er Well really you can use anything higher than the 3.2 MP you get on phones.

VGA, 1.3 and 2.0 phone camsare pretty shabby.

I have a 7.2 MP lol, so not fab, but not poor either lol

Off topic or what? :o

Nurin, you could buy a 10 megapixel camera on Elgiganten. 400 SEK if I remember it correctly.
