In the dusk of the current edition and in time before Halloween, I am starting the Fall of the Necromancer (2021) campaign. I continue playing against my opponent (my brother-in-law) from the previous campaign I played (Siege of Gondor) with me playing as Good and him playing as Evil.

I am looking forward to playing a campaign in the new (soon to be old) edition and enjoy the setting. The painting and terrain requirements are moderate, so I look forward to do the required hobbying.

An overview of all the played scenarios can be found here:

Scenario 2 is up! The battle report isn't as detailed, because I wasn't able to note down too many details. However, I did really enjoy the scenario.

As always, a good read. From the scenario title, it's not shocking that Evil seems to have an advantage in this scenario.

But that dierolling..... Have you been spitting on crucifixes or something?

Yes, I do wonder how such die rolling is possible and whether I am a mathematical anomaly. Fortunately the bad luck doesn't transfer out from MESBG. Not even in other board / tabletop games with dice rolling.

I am also happy to report that Scenario 4: Lurking in the Shadows has been played and published. It is the first scenario we played using the new 2024 rules and profiles (wherever possible) and I must say it was a blast. I feel like the new rules are clearer than before, but perhaps that is because I re-read the Rules Manual since about 6 years.

Fun read. Your conclusion was surprising, as this seemed pretty one-sided during the playthrough.

Thanks! It was one-sided, but it did feel like Good's objective was possible because all it would take is a few bad rolls by the Spider Queen and a few good rolls by the Elves. But perhaps I was too optimistic about that.
