Post subject: | GT army lists - current meta |
Greetings to your lovely community from the frozen Helsinki. I made an account to join these forums as a portal to learn news about the competitive scene of the hobby that seems to be still alive and kicking. Unfortunately, the fb group is a chaos so I am referring to here. I saw a post around here about NOVA tournament and I was extremely happy to read that there is feedback about the current meta and the modern list-building. So what about the new GT? I don't want lists (though everything is welcomed), I would like to know what armies people used and with what army played the finalist players. A small comment about each army should be enough. Even a personal opinion from whatever you can recall if you've been there. I believe it is essential for our hobby to keep being challenging by getting info on what is happening in the high-level gaming, so it can be continuously developing. |

No one seriously? I thought that people from the competitive (or not) scene are active here. I believe this is a very serious aspect for our hobby, especially if we are going to keep it alive. I see people especially helpful if it comes to money and promotion, but if it is something that is going to make you better to play in a higher level that only a few people play, then silence. And this is our huge difference with the warhammer community. They always keep tracking of the meta... Pretty disappointed if the meta is something secret that only the guys from the well known company are keeping it for themselves. |

Hi, Kalevala. First I had to look for the meaning of meta, then I got a impression of what your asking for. Maybe I'm wrong, then please explain your question a little more. I interpret meta for LotR SBG as: what are current trend in playing an army building, what could one expect in a tournament, what are new ideas for the games and old ones which can be put aside. Some points from tournaments in Germany which might be interesting: Sometimes only one nazgul on fell beast is allowed bv tournament rules at most, most evil armies use evil heroes from the Hobbit like Azog, only heroes armies are more frequent, f.i. Thorin's company, champions of Erebor, the white council with figures from the Hobbit; Alfrid is found in many armies where he doesn't really fit in; the monster attacks are often used ... So much as a brain storming. What are your experiences and interpretations? |

He's just asking what armies did folks bring to the Warhammer World GT on Feb 25-26, and what lists performed well. Only folks that were there can really answer this question. |

You'd do better to ask on the GBHL facebook page tbh. Or watch the lastest GBHL podcast videos. I believe they were mentioned on there |

I was the one who wrote about something similar for the nova tournament. Happy to see that we are continuing this, we may establish it some something we are going to do after every big tourney. I don't mean the lists, I speak about the kind of each army. LordElrond wrote: You'd do better to ask on the GBHL facebook page tbh. Or watch the lastest GBHL podcast videos. Although, I was happy to see that they gladly provided their lists to dchl when they collected them to share with the community. |

Well said in my opinion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7gvly5BQgA&t=54s Thank you for the feedback! I want to know about the certain GT as it is the most recent great event, but a meta feedback is always welcomed. In my area, the hobbit armies are most used these days due to the army special rules. Except from that the old good felbeast/shade/monster army is a always expected as the good hero-only army. Except from all these I learnt that Dchl Dave was the one that won this GT, so I am going to ask for info on their channel and as they did before I think they are going to give a nice feedback here. I am really hoping that the guys from gbhl or any other kind buddy will help with his own info, if he can find the time to type them down. Many thanks for the activity in the topic guys! |

Dave who won the GT is not affiliated with the DCHL He has his own channel "dwellers in the dark" |

Nice channel the "dwellers", thanks Andreas. So I am going to post to him, he was there he saw things, so he can make a report about the different kind of armies and what he brought there. He seems like a kind and helpful person. |

He put me up for two nights before Ardacon last year and is a wonderful man! DCHL wanted list building videos on their channel and Dave kindly offered his services so that is the story behind his contributions. |

Hi Kalevala, thank you for the link to Youtube about meta. Really interesting! @Men are weak: Thank you for your clearing comment to my post. After all, I've learned something, and that's always a good thing. |

Kalevala I could type you up a response but here's the problem. I know more what it's like in America. You'd likely be in a European or GBHL event. |

What finally happened is that Dave made a video about his battles and so we can have a better picture of what happened in the GT. There is a reference about many armies that got high position in the tournament. LordoftheBrownRing wrote: Kalevala I could type you up a response but here's the problem. If you could start a new topic about the meta in USA that would be great! |
