Just some more info from the fellows over at The One Ring.net http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2014/08 ... ies-issue/ For those of you who don't wan to click the link..... ************************ There is already a working cut of the film, with only a couple more shots to “chisel into shape”. Without credits, the cut currently runs to 150 minutes and Jackson says he’s aiming at 140 minutes. Jackson: “I think of this third movie as a psychological thriller with actions scenes interspersed in the middle of it. It has for a very tight narrative structure.” Thranduil’s Warmoose will return! (Yay!!). Line from Thranduil to Thorin: We’ve come to tell you payment of your debt has been offered… and accepted. The orcs have all manner of creatures. Not just trolls, but creatures they have bred for their armies. Negotiations between Thorin and Thranduil conclude abruptly when Dain Ironfoot’s “cavalry” arrives. The dwarves are mounted on battle goats and battle rams. Dain rides a warpig. *************************** What do you think? More evil monsters on the way perhaps? |

This battle is going to be even more diverse than Pelenor Fields! Loving it! |

It would be just as awesome (in the proper usage) if he had adhered more closely to the book. |

140 minutes? That's 20 minutes shorter than the other films! |

I feel he's let the "three hours of padding" complainers get to him. Pity. Lots of cool stuff to see tough, and hopefully it means the extended editions are a good bit meatier (I felt like AUJ could have sacrificed a bit more of its TE for its EE, for instance.) |

The Picture of Elrond in Armor is nice, gold armor not whatever that other color was (magenta?) and in Dol Guldor no less. Gandalf standing with the men and women peasants holding weapons... peasant army finally and not just guys. I was reading the Empire article until I saw the first picture and then all I did was skim for the pictures.. Will have to go back and read it, follow the link to One Ring then click the read more to get to the Empire article and two covers (Bard on one and Smaug on the other).. |

Could be cool, but the last two movies didn't exactly leave me with a lot of faith in Peter Jackson's unbridled creative whims... Sithious wrote: peasant army finally and not just guys. I'm calling it, Lake-Town Peasants: $30 USD (3 finecast miniatures). Cynicism aside, I'm a sucker, so I'm certain I'll go to see the movie. No chance I'll be buying any miniatures, unless they go on clearance at my LGS, though. |
