I went to the Games Workshop website and this is what they say: The maintenance rituals are underway, The prayers of function have been heard, It's coming ... ...and your patience will be rewarded. does this mean they are completly rebuilding the website and making GW and Forge World in to one website? |

Seems like a brained person would not give a .... about this, except if they will start of thinking to lower the prices and get friendly to the customers. |

The 'reward' is that space marine sprue, I don't think that currently exists, though I can't check because the website is down |

The brand new website was rumoured to go live Aril 7th. Clearly the dates were slightly off but that's what it will be. |

I doubt that they will combine the two websites, there's too much benefit to keeping them separate companies under the same umbrella |

Sorry for the late activity on this forum topic, I kept having major heart failure when I reread the word 'FREE' being used in a sentence also containing the words 'Games Workshop'......... Aghhh! It's happening again....... Oh, and I meant to add, this is interesting. I've only been following the GW site for the last five or so years, has anything like this happened before now? |

Won't be much longer until they get Forgeworld onto the main page. Now if only they would make a Smaug mini to herald the new site. |

The Space Marine Captain is apparently only "free" if you spend 80 pounds...that's quite a tidy sum you'd have to spend to earn him. I remember the GW website that existed when I first got into the hobby. It was really great and I loved visiting it. Tons of articles and pictures, very friendly. I'm not sure what sort of aesthetic changes will occur under the new site, but I've heard rumors that Forge World and Black Library would be integrated, which I think would be a good thing. I suspect Specialist Games might be gone, and perhaps some of the older miniatures from all three main ranges (especially from Bretonnia, Wood Elves, and LotR) might be quietly removed. We'll have to wait and see I suppose. |

Wood Elves are May's release, so they won't be removed. It supposedly will have a LOT more white areas and every army will be under it's own list, rather than now where 40K armies have a sub-folder for each section of elites, troops etc. |

As evil as people pretend GW is, they have given free models before without any reason too. There was a WD that came with a space marine and a night Goblin (I still have the sprue with them) and they were having a painting exhibition for these models. It was cool of them. There was another WD issue that came with two of those campaign tiles (I have this on the sprue still too) which was pretty cool of them since this was free with a WD issue. They constantly offer free shipping on specified dollar amounts, and that is actually pretty comparable to some discount sites if you are hugging the low end of purchases (if you are buying a lot then of course a 20% site is better). Also free models for subscriptions of WD use to be the norm. lest we forget the profiles for EFGT and then they gave the profiles for AUJ rulebook too. I think they have a crush on us, I did download a lot of free stuff from the site over the years. So offering a free model that they in no way owe to anyone is a very nice gesture, but not uncommon. As for the Hobbit becoming a specialist game, we can all stop pretending that SBG will last forever as if we out sell WH or 40K, we don't, and in the long run the game will taper off no matter what we fans imagine in our minds. It has a set and finite lifeline on the market, how long it lasts as a fan game is up to us to decide. That is when alternate models and newer vested model companies will become our friends. |
