Yesterday I noticed that the Great Beast of Gorgoroth was removed from the GW website(that's the dutch website I checked).... Does anyone know if it is going out of production? Does GW have some problems with the tolkien rights to produce such a model? I immediately rang to my local GW store to set one aside. I definitely want one anyway! I sure hope it's not going out of production.. http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/armySubUnitCats.jsp?catId=cat750029a&rootCatGameStyle= (check the website.. It's not there anymore!) Does anyone have some news about this? |

Can't seem to find it on the UK site either. Very strange... I wouldn't have thought it's an issue with the rights, surely it never wouldn't have been allowed to made in the first place if there were rights complications? Best be on alert for announcements. Gotta say though, if it is out of production then it'd be a little odd and kinda sly to just remove the item without a word. |

I sure dont hope its going out of production but that would be strange. Maybe just an error on the website or they are currently out because of mould adjustments? That beast has had some casting errors so that sounds plausible to me. |

In fairness the GW website is tricksy at the best of times. One time I happened upon a page with some hard to find minis I thought were OOP but I've lost the page now. |

Same here - I came accross a page that let me order £100 worth of OOP stuff. I recieved an email from GW the next day asking how on earth I had managed to place such an order. |

FOUND IT! http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... cat1491821 I mean seriously GW? What the? Why would you even have those models up still if you aren't selling them? Does anybody know why exactly they pulled the Gandalf Mounted, and the Legolas Mounted? |

no idea, the legolas mounted is one of my favourite models. I once found a link to the old battlehosts, god they seem like a good deal now. GW still have the mounted arwen and frodo model on the site despite it being OOP for years :/ and yeah, I cant see the great beast on the UK site either. you can still order the old halbarad off the site aswell, despite it not being shown under the arnor section... http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... rod1130318 |

It is my understanding that all of the cast were defective. The fact that they released the defective product at all should be strange. |

Grrr, I'm going to have to go pick a couple up just in case . . . Thought I had more time on the recent releases. |

I've spent my budget until the first, but I've found a few on the web so I should be okay until then. |

This is what I think has happened, as they had a lot of models returned. Let's hope they make new moulds that are a lot better than the old ones and re-cast them cos the miniature is great.... |

American site has no Great Beast either. Sigh, I almost bought it about a week ago. I hope they are just re-releasing it with a new mold. I will be kicking myself if they are not. GW stores are pretty rare around me and the odds of them having LOTR minis over warhammer are slim to none. |

Waiting for a call from Games Workshop with regards to this matter. I have spoken to Kyle at GW customer service UK and he knew absolutely nothing about the Great Beast being unavailable and assumed it was a problem with the website. I explained I would like a definite answer and that presumptions were not what I was looking for. The Web designers were in a meting at the time of the call so Kyle will speak to them and call me back. We shall see, hopefuly we will have some answers very soon. |

Well well well the plot thickens!!!! Just got off the phone with Kyle from GW and the official line is that the stocks of the Great Beast model are 100% depleted and it has been removed from the website until more casts are made and their stocks replensished. I said to Kyle that with the greatest of respect that does not ring true with me. I asked if it coud have been pulled due to the quality of the cast itself ? As expected he declind to comment and reassured me that this model is definitely NOT going Out of production and that further casts are being made. So there you have it make your own judgemnt from this. My own personal opinion is that it has been pulled for quality issues and that hopefully the next time we see the Great Beast on the website it is a model of high quality to match its high price. |

Did GW ever explain letting other models go OOP like Gandalf mounted, legolas mounted, Haldir's elves, etc? |

Haha maybe another day then. My only guess so far is that they wanted to condense the range for the Hobbit coming out, and in doing so they culled all of the models that might end up with a re-release with new sculpts. |
