http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2012/01 ... out-beorn/ It appears that Beorn will be in both movies, so it'll be split at the earliest around Mirkwood.

Though I imagine that Beorn would be appearing at the Battle of Five Armies as well. Bilbo will probably just get clobbered over the head and the battle will go on.

That's what I thought. Except Peter Jackson said he does NOT like it when Bolbo gets knocked out, so Bilbo will probably not be knocked out in the film.

Cool, does anyone know anything about this actor?

And that would be silly as it is kind of a key point in the story, especially when they go looking for him after the battle worried that he has been killed.

Having Bilbo do much during the BoFA is going to be hard to swallow and potentially rob a lot from the final talk between Bilbo and Thorin. I'll give my faith to PJ since he did right for LotR, but I'm going to have some anxieties until I see it.

Yes, regarding the Bilbo actor- he is very, very good. In the recent 'Sherlock' TV series, the second season of which is generating a lot of controversy, he plays Dr. Watson, and does a fine job of it as well. And the fellow who plays Sherlock in same TV series will be voicing Smaug, and the Necromancer, if he's still in the script.

Since when did changing key points of the story bother Peter Jackson in the past?

Wait, Cumberbatch is voicing Smaug?!

...

I just squee'd like a 12 year-old fan girl. The only way this could get better is if they could squeeze David Tennant in there some where.

Tennant was considered for the parts of Bilbo AND Thranduil, but he didn't get either.

I think that was for the better, I dont think he is very suitable for those parts.

Yes, indeed, Cumberbatch is voicing Smaug. It should be spectacular.
