The link says it all. LEGO is going to make Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit sets! I know what I'm buying next year. Sorry GW.

Sounds good, although why didn't they release it with the original LOTR films 10 years ago?

That's what I've been wondering, I guess they couldn't get the license.

Don't think Lego were doing stuff like that back then? Or if they were they concentrated on Harry Potter maybe?

By the nine! With that AND the World of Warcraft MegaBloks coming out next year I expect to have one very full spare room. That's what spare rooms are for though, right?

The had Star Wars and Harry Potter licensed at that time, so I guess they didn't want a third one.

Star Wars has been a major license source for Lego for a LONG time, but that well may be drying up a little. REALLY looking forward to these, but not their prices. Lego is probably the only other company I'm personally familiar with that gouges on the price because of the market control they have. Have you seen the premium they charge on Star Wars ships vs. standard car/plane sets? Yikes.

Still looking forward to these.

Well, it's a license, so it has to be a bit more expensive for them to make the same margin of profit.

Anyhow, what sets do you all think will be made? Which ones do you REALLY want made? I want a Bridge of Khazad-Dum complete with Balrog, cave troll and Gandalf (maybe the rest of the Fellowship too).

I think you ccan count on that Draugluin. I'll probably pick up each set. Minas Tirith could be cool if they really do one of their mega sets.

I wouldn't be surprised if they release Minas Tirith in multiple sets. For instance, they release the Gate and Grond, the Rohirrim and the Mumakil, Eowyn and the WK and so on. I both hope they do and hope they don't. On the one hand, you would be able to buy just the parts you want/can afford, but the other way, you can get ALL of it for Christmas. :)

I'm guessing they'll have a play set type one that isn't to scale and has lots of figures, and then maybe a collectors edition one at a later date that's the whole thing to scale. Sorta like with the stars wars ships, they have their normal sets, then those 5,000 piece all grey blocks 'collectors' sets.....

My wife just discovered the news about this yesterday and said that we MUST have a Lego Helm's Deep. So, who am I to oppose? :) And no, we don't have kids...

Here's a link to a little something I found:

http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/276793

Its not the official stuff, but its rather good. There's loads of stuff there, highlights include Rivendell, Mines of Moria, Isengard, Barad-Dur and an epic Minas Tirith. Enjoy!

I beleive (that is to say know for a fact) that that has already been posted on this site, but it still looks good.
