NOooo not the Dragon! I hope my order which I placed in end of October won't get affected by this. It has been on hold for close to a month now and I don't want some finecast version of it. Just how reliable are these guys in their info?

They are very reliable. Some of those figures have had "ships in x weeks " for months. I have been waiting to get more iron guard and vault wardens. Guess I should have tried to get them before. I have a feeling that the pike on the vw team will be difficult to straighten.

Your order's been on hold for a month? Hate to say it, but no matter what's on the list you're getting finecast. Sorry, bro.

Comparing the US and UK prices on other things it looks like

Gondor Battlecry Trebuchet $52.00 = £31
Dwarf Iron Guard $23.00 = £14
Dwarf Vault Warden Team $15.75 = £9.50
Nazgul $74.25 = £49
The Witch-king of Angmar $33.00 = £20.50 Pre-order from Maelstrom for £18.45
Uruk-hai Siege Assault Ballista $41.25 = £25.50
Dragon $71.00 = £44 Pre-order from Maelstrom for £39.60

Updated UK prices from GW Advance order page.

Well, if the Nazgul are £50 that's dreadful. have to stick to ft & mtd ones.

Warning: Rant

Uuugh... I find GW to be very unprofessional when it comes to their online vending. I was hoping that the above quote meant that it is the amount of weeks I have to wait until it dispatches once I placed my order, that I shouldn't have to wait for their week counter to go down on time of availabilty in their website. When I ordered it, the site stated 3-4 weeks . Now this is week 4 I'm on and then I still have 1-2 weeks waiting for the delivery to my local store for pick up. So it still can follow through. I'm just hoping GW isn't purposefully holding orders back to release their finecast, because I'll reject that order immediately.

If I were to order a product now and their site is telling me 3-4 weeks, I expect to have that actual metal product in 4 weeks + the weeks for delivery. If that's not true then they shouldn't even be posting that in their time of availabilty and should put instead "Temporary out of stock, time unavailable for dispatch". That would be more professional. I paid them my money, this is the product I expect in this amount of time when placing the order, I don't want to be told now
"sorry, out of stock, but here you can have our cheaper, more expensive finecast product." That's not what I ordered. I don't want my Dragon to have drooping wings, looking like Aero Chocolate; full of bubbles and melts in the sun.

Sorry for the rant.

No need to apologize, bro. I think it's about time that the company saw that treating your customer base like a yo-yo is bad for business.
Finecast was supposed to be higher quality in terms of detail - pervasive bubbles are pretty much the opposite of detail quality.
Finecast was supposed to help the company's bottom line, ultimately saving us customers money - we've been lucky when the new models cost the same.
The transition was supposed to be fairly streamline from pewter to finecast - they seem to be waiting to run out of stocks on metal models before starting production on the finecast alternative.

It's like I've said for a while now: ebay, amazon, & your favorite independents are the way to get any and all GW models you're interested in at this point. They'll still get "their money", but their profit margin will be a lot lower AND you've got a better chance of getting quality products and customer service. :-X

Firstly thanks alot for uploading this information, I realy appreciate it. I have been deciding on what new lotr wotr army to collect and these re-releases will definatley influence my decesion.

Why would finecast re-releases of models interest me?

well to be honest, for big models like the dragons and the trebs, I definatley prefer finecast. Smaller models not so much, but I dont intend on buying the iron guard for example( although those models look pretty sturdy, as dwarves are).

Now i have to decide on misty mountains or gondor, althoguh I will probs go gondor.

You will need to be careful of that, snapping off is a real possibility too, however the pikes of the VW teams seem to be rather thick when compared to say WoMT spears.

GW seem to announce stuff a week ahead of release at the moment. The original post of bell of lost souls gave a 3rd December release date, so hopefully that means they will be on pre-order from Friday night/Saturday morning this week.

To be fair though nothing there is too interesting to me (the dragon would be if I didn't already have a partially painted metal dragon).

I'm waiting for mounted Royal Guard, where the metal rider doesn't weigh down the plastic horse.

Just updated my price estimates for the UK above with with prices from Maelstrom Pre-orders.

The With-King was spot on and the dragon is £1 less than I guessed. Don't forget Maelstrom also have 17% off RRP at the moment if you use the code ITS-CHRISTMAS-2011.

I'll update the other prices as they go live.

All crappy release this just made me buy a metal dragon, 3 boxes of goblins, 6 wild wargs, durburz, 4 captains, a shaman and a warg chieftain for $90 shipped.

I think it's a Finecast release of the 9 unnamed Ringwraiths on foot.
