Okay, it's for Warhammer, but it is terrain, and IMHO it looks really good. I was in my local store on the weekend and bought the square watchtower. Seeing a couple models set up on boards made me realize it would be pretty easy to trim all the "warhammery" garbage off it. Then the store manager told me about the new stuff coming: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... GameStyle= There is a round ruined tower and a large 4-story round tower coming end of this month. The 4-story tower has interlocking levels, so you can open it up during game play and view models inside. Apparently most of the pieces--such as windows, doors, etc--are separate, so it would be easy to get rid of all those dang skulls, falling comets, pointless spikes, etc. With a little work I think it might fit quite well with the Osgiliath ruins because the stonework blocks have that "rough-hewn, offset" look to them. |

Casting Hirst Arts blocks is also lot of work. I recently bought the Osgiliath Ruins set because it looks as good as Hirst Arts ruins but without requiring me to spend my precious Saturday afternoons pouring plaster. Hirst Arts blocks look wonderful in LotR, but if I can get close to the same results without ever having to cast a single block any more in my life, I'll take the alternative. -- Pasi |

I wonder if the Hirst guy ever thought to remold into plastic? I bet he could make a sweet deal with GW if he offered the right kits. |

The ruined one looks much better IMO not mention cheaper and more "LotRy". But I think that the ruins of osgiliath is better tbh. |

I realize you are not in the US but here is a website that will sell you casts, not the mold, but the casts of some of the hirst arts molds. http://www.nalsworkshop.com/index.php?o ... 5209tdnje2 valpas wrote: Casting Hirst Arts blocks is also lot of work. I purchased the round tower and ruin from my local shop on holiday sale Friday. I am sad to report that their are far more "dang skulls, falling comets, pointless spikes" to be removed than could ever be practical. I post photos of the parts if any one wants. The round tower mold will be more useful. If you care to purchase the cast bricks it will require 24 cast. Depending where you buy you could save about $20 over the purchase of the GW kit. Instructions: http://www.hirstarts.com/round/round.html In the UK http://www.theterrainstore.com/ I use http://nalsworkshop.com/ |

Thanks for the update, I guess it's a good thing I've been holding off on my purchase. Too bad, because it looked like it had a lot of promise. |

Quote: Too bad, because it looked like it had a lot of promise. It did. I would have possibly bought as many as four for corner wall towers or even a keep, if it was a bit more generic.I play Warhammer too so it won't be a total waste. Try this link for Gondor style ruins using Hirst Arts blocks: http://hirstarts.yuku.com/topic/4867 |
