yes indeed, to finally get a non-movie miniature that has this sort of potential will be a welcome change! that is if gw doesn't sit on it like they did with the mounted hama model... |

That shield looks exactly like the shield of Denethor from the ROTK. It was designed and made an appearance in The Two Towers I believe being held by one of the citadel guards accompanying Denethor at Osgiliath. I believe it is also in the Appendices in the photo gallery and also appeared in the book, 'Weapons and Warfare' of the Lord of the Rings if I'm not mistaken. Would really love a Numenorean(2nd age Gondor/Arnor) expansion, but sadly I doubt there will ever be one. |

I think it's a conversion of the mounted Isildur miniature, you can see the sword attached to the neck of the horse, and the horse has exactly the same pose as the one Isildur has. |

BTH that cannot be a convertion of Isildur. Sword is not be attached to horse neck since we can see guard from that angle. Horse is completely different horses headguard has different shape and legs are in other pose. Horses tail is also different. IMO it can be Ecthelion, father od Denetheor. I do not see GW making any named heroes from other Gondor history periods (Boromir I, Earnur, Cirion or so) because they would do whole new range rather than single mini. It can be Anarion also, though it does not look that TLA ... ish |

Over on another site I read that some guys think it might be Faramir when he takes his new role as Prince of Ithilien, under King Elessar. Possible? |

I read that too. I think it was on TLA. They also mentioned that the shield pictured was modeled off a shield made by Weta for Denethor, but not used in the movie. |

Yeah, some have also suggested that GW might be re-doing the range and moving away from the film design, but I'm not sure how likely that is... |

Someone mentioned that the shield was denathors. Maybe it is a model of Denathor when he was younger. |

Well I, for one, hope it is Hurin! |

Last Saturday I visited for the first time in my life an official Games Workshop store, the one in Antwerp... I chatted a bit with one of the guys from the shop, and he asked me if I had noticed the mistakingly posted picture on the GW site, something for soon next year, and he told me it was taken off quickly... I supposed this must have been it... I'm not sure if he knew himself already what was coming, but he had his pleasure getting me interested... Sadly enough I hadn't seen this before so I could ask him more about it.. Patience will be needed once again... |
