Just got hold of this 1/9th scale Thorin, released months ago and has been hard to get hold of in the UK for some reason. Made of a solid resin with a cloth cloak and stands around 9 inches tall. Also comes with a nice base which is crying out for detailing. Looking forward to starting this one.

Wow, that is a really nice looking miniature! Is that actual fur lining for his cloak, too? Very nice, looking forward to seeing more work done on this guy.

Yes the cloak has a fur lining and patterned cloth, managed to get it for £45 which I thought was pretty reasonable, ordered from Hannants at Lowestoft, they have a shop at Colindale near Hendon as well. They only managed to import 1 but I am sure if you contacted them they could source more.

Should start work on it in a couple of weeks and will post on my wip

Yep raising this post back up. Smaug is coming soon and we've already seen glimpses. If he's set at a high price which looks to be the case, I hope he's at least nearly twice the size of a mumak. At least as large as the WHFB Nagash Model. If not, then he's way over valued.

Doing some comparison and estimation work using the Bilbo attached to the model, The length of the base should be around 10" to 12". A mumaks base length is 7". So looks promising on size.
