List of Figures GW have discontinued

I'm a LOTR collector and am quite worried about the size of the discontinued list .... it seems there are a lot of miniatures that i don't yet have. Can't believe it - been painting for 9 years now and feel like i've had the rug pulled from under me. seriously thinking of giving up on the collection .........totally gutted

Oh I don't know that it's quite that bad - many of the figures that are discontinued were only available in boxed sets, and it's not all that uncommon to find these on eBay from time to time, which means each purchase is a big step forward in terms of completing the collection.

For instance, there are a good 4 or 5 "Fellowship of the Ring" sets up on eBay right now, some of them at almost half the original MSRP! You can also always check the sale/trade forums on sites like this one, or on Warseer. I'd bum around the internet and see what you can dig up - filling in at least some of those gaps in the discontinued figures list may not be as hard as you think.

That said, I'm certain that there are some discontinued figures that will be quite difficult to get your hands on, so if you're a "must have" completist then you may have a bit of legwork ahead of you. From a different point of view, though, that gives you a few "Holy Grails" to chase after, and after all isn't that at least part of the fun/point of a collection?

I agree there are many figures on ebay, that some people just don't know are discontinued. Of cource there are always those figures which are that little bit harder to get, and as Hirumith says you need to do some leg work. I only checked this thread yesterday, and was getting pretty worried with that growing list. I have most of those figures on that list, and just took them for granted. Hopefully the Hobbit will boot some much needed life back into this hobby, and get more people playing.

Your right!!!! moment of doom has passed - come too far to let the collection go - chasing the discontinued miniatures right now - anyone no where i can get my hands on metal knights of dol amroth (mounted) plus mounted captain and standard bearer , these are the ones i'm struggling to find.. I have them all you asked for.. thought I'm not sure if I want to trade my metal knights OOP figures..

Fingers crossed I may have them too - will know this time 2moro - i suppose it is quite good fun tracking them down once you've got over the initial shock of that awful word "discontinued"

phew!!!! think i'm up to date - some list to catch up on - will be keeping an eye out in future for more discontinued miniatures ...............thanks to everyone who helped compile this list without it i'd have been in a lot of trouble, thanks again

Just a quick note to say I found an online indy supplier who still has stocks of the Dol Amroth Captain Foot and Mounted. I ordered one on Monday and it arrived today. He has 21 blisters left.

It's weird that on the GW site you can only find the old blister of the Dol Amroth Banner bearer ft & mt if you go into the DA men-at-arms or swan knight on foot sites, then they have the blister on the side as a suggestion. Wonder if that's an error on their part.

I've seen that sort of thing before, usually when you like the 'Suggestions' link it'll say that the product cannot be found if it's out of production.
Probably just a little thing they forget to update each time something gets pulled.

Yeah, the rules for Golfimbul are in the Scouring of the Shire supplement, I believe.

As Whiskas points out his profile was in the Scouring of the Shire - one of the few profiles not to make it into the ORB. He was really pretty much entirely a scenario character - as I recall there was almost no reason to use him over a simple orc or goblin captain unless you had some sort of thematic reason for doing so. I own the model and like it a lot, though, I think he has a lot of character.

Just wanted to update that gandalf the grey foot and mounted, Boromir foot and mounted(not finecast version) and the generic WR ft and mounted are no longer available from GW US.

Delays include The nine box set, dragon, iron guard, arwen/mtd, fountain court, men at arms and morgul stalkers.

If WR means Ringwraith, then it's still available in the UK site as are all the others, with no delays, the only exceptions being Boromir and Gandalf, as they were replaced. I believe that Legolas ft & mtd also falls into this category.

Yes, Legolas ft & mtd is discontinued, i managed to get a set on Amazon along with the standing version of King Theoden with head armour which is also discontinued
