Sauron needs an army. Smaug eats armies.

No, he just uses armies because he is vain and lazy, as is Smaug.

My only issue with Forgeword is the type of resin they use. Granted i have not purchased a kit from them in some time, their resin quality varies as does their castings.

I bought Weathertop from them. Great kit. Nicely cast.

I purchased an Imperial Guard Valkyrie, years before the plastic was released. The castings were misaligned, the resin was full of bubbles and some parts were weeping. Terrible.

I bought the IG drop troops....some were amazing, some were horrific.

For me..unless I see in person and up close what I am buying from Forgeworld...I won't give them any money.

do you mean Stone Giants? and if FW did those too it would almost as big as smaug, if not smaller or even larger. you would have to make it to scale with dwarfs being able to stand on their knees.

(can you imagine the size of difficult terrain when either one of these titans die? An oliphaunts would look dwarfed!)

Maybe FW will give us the foot of a Stone Giant?

in that case i"ll make my own.... how big are the space marine titan things? they might make the stone giant that size, and maybe the dragon on his back feet? it would be close to scale then.

You can use yourself as a stone giant, because in the miniature scale that's about right...

"Already Got One"

Forge World as a regular part of GW would take care of the rumored licencing difficulty. May be we would see more Middle Earth products.

The root of the problem here is ascertaining WHY Forgeworld stuff is so expensive. Is it because of the material, limited production run or simply because they think they can get away with it?

really cool oldman willow! i feel like i should assemble one now. how did you make it, may i ask?

[EDIT]: btw i found out how tall the titans are from W40K- they're 16" tall which would be a decent size for Smaug and the stone giants.

We aren't going to see Hobbit stuff from FW, I will consume my headgear if this happens.

I think that's a very generous estimate of what a mini this size would set you back by...

Well, forgeworld would be a likely place to put LOTR miniatures, especially those ones that are now OOP. They are good at small batch production of resin models. Then GW can get rid of the LoTR models from the main GW homepage.

I totally agree with Winterfell. When I started out, it was during the WOTR days. Boxes were 20/24 and I focused on Harad/Far Harad. Now that has all shifted, and I would like more diversity in my collection. I am seeing (on USA site) some stuff is going out in lead times. And I am not really ready to just drop hundreds of dollars to nab it all now. I could see paying a premium to FW if they would continue to make the models available.

And I also think a massive 24"+ Smaug would...
A) Be cool to have.
B) Look like total Devlan Mud once I was done painting it.
